Happy Holidays! We are looking forward to the arrival of
our daughter due at the end of February 2011! Due to Katie's
pregnant physical condition, she will be taking a hiatus from
offering cooking classes beginning in December 2010 through
April 2011.

Buffalo Book Fair 2010
This summer I participated in the 2010 Buffalo Book Fair
held in downtown Buffalo, NY on July 10, 2010. I presented
twice - describing the cookbook and the process of publishing
it. I demonstrated some fun tips & techniques from a few
of the recipes in the cookbook.

Summer Cooking Classes
This summer's cooking classes were fantastic! Here is a
quote from Molly Collins the Young Adult Librarian at the
Malden Public Library in Malden, MA.
"Hello Katie!
Thank you SO much for your wonderful cooking class at the
Malden Public Library. The instructions you gave were so clear
and, thanks to your guidance, they made such delicious treats
to share with their friends. Our students truly had a
wonderful time and wanted to keep cooking! It was honestly one
of the best programs we've ever had at our library. Such an
enriching program for our students - thank you so much!
Sincerely, Molly M. Collins Young Adult Librarian
Malden Public Library "
Here are some photos from a cooking class Katie conducted
at the Bookworm in East Aurora, NY. Her classes not only take
place in libraries, but also bookstores, grocery stores and
kitchen supply stores!

Katie Kicks Off Her Summer 2010 Cooking
Classes!
June is here, and Katie has begun a series of cooking
classes she will offer in MA, NH and NY this summer! The first
class was held at the Groton Public Library in Groton, MA.
The following photos give you an idea of what the set up
looks like when Katie conducts her cooking class at local
libraries! There are five cooking stations – one for each
recipe which includes: Cream Cheese Filled Strawberries, Pizza
Wontons, Yogurt Fruit Shakes, Parmesan Pita Triangles,
Superior Deviled Eggs. The students divide up into groups of 3
or 4 and each group makes one of the five recipes from the
cookbook "You're the Cook!" which has been in print now for 4
years and is still selling strong on Amazon.com, at local book
stores and farm stands!
Katie was a Guest on NECN again!
On December 21, 2009, I was a guest on
NECN's Morning Report. I demonstrated how to make Chicken
Noodle Soup and recommended using a vacuum seal product to
freeze any leftover soup. While the segment was only a few
minutes - it takes a lot of time to prepare to be on TV! These
are some of the things I have to organize before making a TV
appearance.
- Decide on recipe to demonstrate
- Make Make several batches of recipe so I can…
- Show the final product
- Show the different stages of the recipe
- Share recipe with staff at the station
- Layout all of the supplies, including a tablecloth, a
stand with a copy of the cookbook, all needed utensils to
demonstrate the recipe
- Practice - to make sure you have all of the needed
supplies and utensils
- Pack up all of the above the night before
- The morning of the show - leave for the station allowing
plenty of time in case there are traffic or inclement
weather issues - you do not want to be late!!!
You can watch a video of the segment on the NECN website!

The Passing of Atticus Harley Berg Wilton
Peterson
It is with great sadness that I share the news that Atticus
passed away in December 2009. He was 12 ½ years old and while
he showed signs of aging, he was active and social until the
end. He is missed - by many.
Katie Got Married! I am excited to
share the news that I got married to David Peterson on
September 26, 2009! We had an outdoor ceremony with perfect
weather at Maudslay State Park in Newburyport, MA and a
reception at 10 Center Street, also in Newburyport, MA. We
have moved to Topsfield, MA and I have changed my name to
Katie Peterson, but Cooking with Katie, Inc.'s contact
information is the same.
